Preventing Pollution of state waterways
Trillions of gallons of untreated water enter our waterways each year from the storm drains. The
small oil drops or the spilled oil bottle that someone forgot to throw away, any spilled material
can harm the environment if not properly handled. Litter or rubbish can also be a contaminant, leaf litter is often a problem with storm water runoff,
the cost of cleaning out these drains can be prohibitive. Identifying the problem is the easiest and can help in the clean up, if you have many trees then
the problem might be leaf litter.
Maybe more trash cans will help with rubbish. We ask all to use them, if you throw it out
someone has to pick it up.
We support the plastic bag ban we find them in lots, roads, hedges and sometimes in the tops
of trees or blocking the storm drains causing flooded parking lots and roadways. The worst-case would be a biohazard and must be handled with extreme care for the safety of
all concerned.
The same applies for a pathogen which can be any bodily fluid of any kind is a biohazard.
Appropriate methods for collecting and disposing of the material must be followed then cleaned
with a bleach solution.
Regular cleaning can have beneficial economic valve for the company and the environment.
Please help keep pollution out of the state waterways.
